Kelly has been part of the First State Bank team since 2009 and currently serves as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Over the years, she’s built a reputation as a strong advocate for community banking and a trusted leader in the industry. In fact, Crain’s Detroit Business recognized her in 2021 as a Notable Woman Banker.
Kelly is deeply involved with the Michigan Bankers Association, where she works closely with legislators to raise awareness about how certain proposed laws could impact community banks and their customers. She also serves on the Boards of Advancing Macomb and the MBA Perry School of Banking, and frequently presents on topics like leadership and elder abuse.
Beyond her work in banking, Kelly is passionate about giving back to her community. She’s active in the Oakland County Bar Association (Real Estate Committee), St. Hugo of the Hills Parish (where she serves as a catechist and commentator), and the Marian High School Alumnae Association.
She holds a B.A. from Oakland University, two M.A. degrees from the University of Detroit Mercy and Ss. Cyril and Methodius, and a J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law.
Among her proudest accomplishments are helping business customers stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting families during the housing crisis, and contributing to the recent passage of the Uniform Power of Attorney Act and the Federal Exploitation Prevention Act in Michigan.
Outside of work, Kelly stays very busy—she’s a proud mom of eight and still finds time to stay active in her parish and community.
